The Loisachbündnis association invites to a Dialogue of Water Bodies in the Loisach valley.

From 12 to 21 September, representatives of the Whanganui River in New Zealand and the Mar Menor lagoon in southern Spain will come together to share their experiences of the Rights of Nature.

The event will bring together ecological, legal, artistic and indigenous perspectives in an interdisciplinary discourse format, ranging from local experiences on the Loisach to global insights from the international rights of nature movement.

The travelling conference will move from the sources in the Tyrolean Zugspitze region, via the Murnauer Moos, to the city of Munich. The evening programme is open to the public, with two events for a wider audience taking place on 15 September at Benediktbeuern Abbey and on 17 September at the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. The Loisachbündnis aims to introduce the concept of legal personhood for eco systems into the public debate in Bavaria. The Dialogue of Water Bodies marks the beginning of a river partnership between the Whanganui and the Loisach, an idea conceived in 2023. These encounters will be filmed to serve as the basis for a film about the rights of nature. The Loisachbündnis sees itself as part of a global movement that seeks to elevate nature from an object to a subject.
